The Science of Everyday Thinking
Alice is cleaning up the laundry. She picked up the clean laundry from the basket and noticed a few pairs of dirty socks. As she steps closer to the door, she returns only to pick up the dirty socks and move towards the door with clean laundry in one hand and dirty socks in the other.

Looking at her surroundings while doing some work and returning to change the situation has to have a science behind it. Was it her inner desire to keep the room clean? Or was the smell of dirty socks bothering her? Or it was the feeling that I can do it all alone.
The thought process and the resulting actions are complicated. Neuroscientists have worked hard to identify the complex underlying processes that determine our thinking. But one thing is for sure. Your thoughts have the power to transform your life.
In this blog post, I share how you can capitalize on the power of thoughts by taking charge of what you think and give a boost to your productivity.
How to Take Charge of Your Thoughts
It is a fact that your thoughts determine your actions. But did you know that you can control your thoughts? Mind control is a skill that can transform your life.
While you may not be able to change the initial situation, you can take back the control, modify your thought process and come up with a better response to the situation — the result in better productivity and improved quality of life.
Here’s how to take charge of your thoughts and improve your productivity and the quality of your life.
Be Mindful
Remember how I emphasized the power of meditation in my earlier blog posts? I repeat it here one more time. The more you know your surroundings, the better equipped you will be to deal with the situation.
It does not mean that you always anxiously wait for the trigger. Instead, it means you recognize the trigger and knock it out before it takes a toll on your mental processing. The more aware you are, the quicker you can get hold of your thought process and take charge of your actions.
Know That Fear is Illogical
When you are stuck in a swirl of negative thoughts, you are bound to become fearful. And then you evaluate every alternative with that fear in your mind. Let’s accept one thing and stick to it “Fear is Illogical.” When you are fearful, it affects your thought process as well as the resulting outcome.
When you throw fear out of the equation, you can better evaluate life opportunities and make the most of your resources.
Eliminate and Replace
Unfortunate instances are an inevitable part of life. But if you continue to think about the negative life events, your thought process can halt your progress. You can change the situation by taking charge of your thoughts.
A great way to do so is to eliminate and erase the negative life events and replace them with more positive opportunities. Find one positive aspect in every unfortunate life event and use it to be more productive in life. In simple words, this is all about letting go!
Be Confident in Your Choice
Once you are more mindful of your surroundings and keep fear away, you will be confident in your choice. And the more confident you are, the better will be your outlook towards life choices.
Final Words
Some things are easier said than done, and taking charge of your thoughts is definitely one of them. It is certainly not easy, but it is possible. So why not give it a try and transform your life!
