How Cedar Homeschool Might Be A Great Fit For Your Family
In 2009, frustrated by the lack of affordable, quality education for her 6 homeschooled children, Beth Brookins, wife of Reverend Brian Brookins, established Cedar Homeschool curriculum in partnership with the Riverside Church in Broward County’s city of North Lauderdale.

For the past 12 years, Cedar has been providing educational excellence that affirms the biblical world view to its limited number of hand-picked students. Cedar is on a mission to offer God-honoring academic classes to children from respectable Christian families within the community.
It hopes to change the perspective on homeschooling by offering young believers (students of grade 4 to grade 12) a chance to attain quality education through academic excellence.
Every single course that is taught at Cedar Homeschool has been tailored to bring children one-step closer to college acceptance. But unlike the traditional public and private schools, Cedar’s curriculum is based on Christian teaching and how these teaching can be effectively incorporated into our daily lives.
Staying true to her commitments, Beth Brookins only hires credentialed instructors who are experienced in teaching from a Christian perspective. Her dedicated staff of prolific instructors includes teachers from a wide range of academic disciplines, such as Mathematics, Geography, American History, World History, Religion and Divinity, English and Spanish Language, Arts and Literature, Economics, and Sciences.
The efficiently managed credit point system of each course ensures that your children are college-ready and can easily present their case for exemptions. Apart from the introductory and fundamental classes, Cedar’s curriculum includes SAT and ACT preparation to guarantee your child’s success at the exams. Cedar’s alumni are known for their high SAT scores, and today, some of its flourishing graduates are a part of prestigious colleges in the USA.
Cedar Homeschool is a not-for-profit ministry and is dedicated to serving its faithful community members. For this very reason, tuition fees for each course are as low as $500, and it offers tuition fee waivers to those bright students who have the zeal and academic merit to progress in life, but their financial circumstances have been holding them back.
Cedar’s philosophy is to provide complete educational support to its students. It does this through a parent-teacher partnership program. Every parent who is a part of the Cedar family must be an active and serving member of the Riverside Church. Cedar’s list of community-oriented, extra co-curricular activities include:
- Tutoring opportunities
- Chapel services
- Prayer meetings
- Family fun nights
- Pancake breakfasts
- Art shows
- Talent shows
- Sports day
- Field trips
Every single activity is specially curated to ensure that parents and children can spend lots of quality time together and live their lives according to the Christian principles of love and kindness.
Answering the Christian families’ call to homeschool their children, Cedar has designed a balanced curriculum that beautifully covers all the fundamental coursework in just 2 to 3 days a week. Most of the classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to give students maximum free time for self-learning, family activities, and religious duties.
The small number of enrolments during each academic year ensures that each student gets individual attention during the classes and the staff members are able to solve problems case-by-case.
At Cedar Homeschool, your child will get plenty of opportunities for socializing with like-minded, young Christians that will affirm their belief in God and the Holy Scripture.
