Live Journaling Session 5 – I Will Build My Success In Baby Steps, Which Are Attainable Daily
This live journaling session is part of my 15-minute digital journaling sessions, where I will be journaling for seven days and 15 minutes each day in my online blog. If you haven’t been following this series, start reading from here.
In today’s session, I will be journaling to the following journaling affirmation:
I Will Build My Success In Baby Steps, Which Are Attainable Daily
I have been dabbling in small business building for the past eight years. I say dabbling because I haven’t found the success that I have been craving. It took me eight years to build a website that I am happy with, and that’s ashleyyeo.com.
Before this, I built countless websites, which gave me nothing but heartache and headaches.
Maintaining all these small websites was a chore. And I hated it because I was working long hours with little to show for it.
After some soul searching, I finally understood why I was going nowhere. I gave myself an impossible list of tasks each day to complete as I had thought that by doing more tasks than anyone else, I would find success faster.
However, I ended up exhausted and buried in my work. I had no idea where my business was heading, and each day was just another busy day of fighting fire.
I was trying to do as much as possible each day, rather than only doing the important tasks that I needed to perform to build a profitable online business.
After my soul-searching session, I made a list of all the important tasks I had to do for my small business. And I created a manageable daily schedule for the tasks.
Instead of doing more daily, I cut down on what I had to do and only attempted a few small business building tasks each day.
In eight months, I had created over a hundred journals for sale on Amazon. One became a number one new release, and a best seller.
And in another four months, I rebuilt my website AshleyYeo.com into something I am proud of and happy to share with other people who want to find more positivity in their lives by journaling.
I created plenty of printable journals, notebooks, and planners for sale on the website and also started my own Joyful Journaling Therapy Pretty Printables Princess Club, a digital journaling resource membership for ladies.
In a year, I did more quality work than I ever did for the past eight years of dabbling without any focus.
I am proud of myself. And this wouldn’t have been possible if I had not broken down my business goals into tiny manageable baby goals each day.
If you find success eluding you, you can try the following:
1. Redefine success.
For example, rather than define it as building a Unicorn start-up, or baking a cake deserving of a magazine spread in the leading cooking magazines, define it as just starting up your business and selling your first product and baking an edible cake.
When you redefine success this way, you break success into small attainable bits, and by doing so you gain a greater sense of achievement each day.
2. Only attend to the important tasks that you must do each day, rather than flood your to-do list with all the tasks you can think of.
3. Perform a few success building steps each day, and then log them in your journal.
You will find that by the end of a week, you would have an awesome, great accomplishment made up of many small accomplishments accumulated over the week.
You may not be proud of yourself at the end of each day, but by the end of a week, you would be patting yourself on the back.
