Self-Care Assessment Checklist For Your Sanity
Often, when I get busy, my self-care regime takes a backseat, and there are days when I even have to force myself to brush my teeth at night because I am just so tired from the day.
Indeed, this behavior of neglecting myself is not healthy! Thus, I started using my self-care assessment to make sure that I am taking good care of myself.
If you don’t take good care of yourself, it won’t be easy for you to care for your loved ones and family. You may become resentful when you are spread too thin with your obligations.
Thus, it is essential to remember to take good care of yourself so that your state of mental and physical health are both in tip-top condition.
Don’t neglect yourself, and start caring for yourself today!
Why Should You Take A Self-Care Assessment?
I feel that you must take a self-care assessment because, with your busy schedule, there is a high chance that you are neglecting yourself. You need to assess both your mental and physical well-being as soon as you can.
In fact, you should take the assessment together with your family members to make sure that all of you are taking proper care of yourselves.
When you take better care of yourself, you have more energy to take care of the people who matter to you. When your mind is in a better place, you will find yourself enjoying more quality time with your family and loved ones.
Despite your commitments to your work, family, outside interests, etc., you should always check in on yourself daily to ensure that you are cared for. Whether it is your physical health, mental health, or emotional health, it is vital to keep them in check to stay positive and happy.
When you constantly feel stressed, your stress will impact your relationship with your family because your temper may be shorter with them, or your mind isn’t with them even when you are together. This is unhealthy for your children as they are more emotionally fragile.
In your state of distress, your mind is probably thinking about everything on your to-do list that you need to attend to. Indeed, you are setting a bad example for your children who may think that it’s necessary always to be stressed to function as an adult. Lead by example and show your kids that it’s essential for them to practice self-care and self-love.
It is more critical for you to take care of yourself as a parent as you now have other people to care for.
Why You Must Take Great Care Of Yourself
When you take care of yourself, it isn’t being selfish, and it also doesn’t mean you forget about your duties and responsibilities as a parent. You are just trying to pamper yourself in the best way possible to perform your parent duties more efficiently and focus on living your life with more positivity and mindfulness.
When I wasn’t taking good care of myself, I would go through every day like a robot. I was a robot worker who acted on automation and wasn’t mindful of the great moments in my life. Instead, I was fleeting from moment to moment in a daze and not able to focus on what matters.
When I started my site AshleyYeo.com, I started becoming more motivated to take great care of myself and love myself more because I wanted to spread the message that self-care and self-love are very important to other busy moms.
Start caring for yourself today by first taking my self-care assessment. After that, start to integrate your new self-care practice into your daily life.
For example, plan and prepare healthier meals for yourself, take water breaks more frequently, exercise more and make it a habit, take your vitamins and supplements that you need to perform better, spend more quality time with your family, sleep better, take more me-time breaks, unwind with a fun hobby, meditate, get a deeply relaxing massage or hot bath, practice self-care together with your family members so that it becomes ingrained as a family event, etc.
Remember that self-care doesn’t just apply to adults; it is equally important for kids as well. Lead by example, set a standard of self-care and self-love for your children, and give them a solid foundation for living a fulfilling, positive and healthy life.
Make small changes in your life a day at a time, and you will start noticing the results soon.
