What Is Self-Empowerment?
So, what is self-empowerment? I believe it is a powerful tool that can make you more self-aware, purposeful and lead you on a clearer and more focused path toward your goals. Let me now share with you what self-empowerment means to me so that you know how to use your Empowerment Journal on your self-empowerment journey.
What You Need To Understand About Self-Empowerment In Order To Use Your Empowerment Journal
1. Self-Empowerment Means Being Self-Aware
A key component of being self-empowered means that you need to be self-aware. When you are self-aware and understand yourself better, you are able to weigh your options in life with more knowledge and make better and wiser choices. When you are able to make better choices, you are also able to achieve what you want in life more easily.
How do you then become more self-aware? In order to become more self-aware, you need to get in touch with your feelings and thoughts and also connect yourself to the world around you. You need to make time to do this and get in touch with yourself and self-reflect on what you want in life.
When you pay attention to your feelings and thoughts regularly, you will be able to make better and more informed decisions and this will then help you reach your goals faster and achieve more of what you want in life easier. You will also be able to better control your reactions, responses, and impulses and learn how to better deal with conflicts.
Once you are more self-aware, you will make more deliberate choices and know clearly what you want and do not want to do. This aids you in reaching your goals faster and become more successful quicker.
2. Self-Empowerment Means Being Absolutely Clear On What You Want In Life
Being self-empowered means having absolute clarity about what you want in life. It means that you will take the time to think and rethink things so that you are crystal clear about your desires and goals.
Often, people get caught up in their daily lives and their desires in life seem selfish or unrealistic because they are so wound up in their daily lives that they cannot see themselves as their ideal desirable selves.
Thus, it is important that you always set some time aside every day for your journal and self-reflection so that you become more self-aware as a human being.
When you self-reflect and become clear on what you want in life and share your self-reflections with the people around you, you empower yourself to make changes that can make your life better.
When you have focus and clarity on what you want, you will be in the driving seat of your life and will be able to steer control of your life in the right direction that it’s meant to head.
3. Self-Empowerment Means Setting Realistic Goals And Pursuing Them With Courage And Focus
The self-empowerment journey starts by setting goals because when you set goals, you will have a clear path to follow toward your success. When you are clear on what you want in life, you will feel more motivated and inspired to do exactly what you need to do to get there. You will need to write down goals that you want to achieve, track your progress with these goals and then stick with them.
You will need to think about how you can reach these goals and the resources available to you to reach these goals. You may think of the fastest way to reach these goals but do not skimp on hard work my friend because I firmly believe that you will need to work hard and work smart in order to become successful.
When you set goals, you also need to be clear about your limitations and what you can and cannot do within a certain time frame. Part of being self-empowered means you know how to set realistic goals that you can reach and you know how to reach them. I say “realistic goals” because there is no point in setting goals that are so far out of reach that you lose courage and faith in trying to reach them.
If you have a big goal you want to achieve, first break it down into smaller goals that you can achieve bit by bit. Do not try to reach for the sky in one go, stay focused and proceed steadily and step-by-step.
For example, your goal is to get promoted to district manager in your company but so far you have been performing badly at work. If this is indeed your goal, then you need to break it down into smaller goals, such as the following:
Try your best to improve your work performance so that you will get acknowledged as a good employee. Do not get stressed by this and think that you need to become the ideal employee overnight. Do a bit more at work each day to gain recognition. Just imagine this scenario, if you perform a bit better daily and you do this consistently for 30 days, your work improvement will have improved by 30 times in 30 days! Slowly but surely often helps people reach their goals.
Improve your relationships with your colleagues at work and help them out whenever you can so that you have people who can and will back you in your promotion. You need not get everyone on your side instantly. Be sincere with your colleagues as much as you can and your sincerity will be rewarded handsomely.
4. Empower Yourself Through Education And Learning
When you want to be self-empowered, it is also important for you to stay on top of your learning and be proactive in learning new things every day. If you learn new things daily, you will be empowering yourself with an education that you can apply in your life and maximize your potential. Learning new things helps you broaden your mind, sharpen your skills, solve problems faster and move toward your goals faster.
Thus, always stay on top of your learning and continually improve yourself. Learning more things and skills also helps you see things from different perspectives and aids you in problem-solving etc.
One of the best ways to continually improve yourself is through personal development. I upload plenty of resources for my Positivity and Self-Care Club members here, check them out now!
